Toraso Presentation 1.1- Yonah Shalom Brown בענין שנים מקרא

A big יישר כח to Yonah for agreeing to be the first Presenter. Everyone should know that he actually said his presentation twice. The first one was almost 40 minutes, so he redid to make it shorter.

I uploaded both. Feel free to listen to the longer one, but the Toraso expectation is only for the shorter one.

A gutte voch. Had a few הערות to share:

Yonah asked in his presentation why the גמרא uses the wordage ימים ושנים, a lashon that seems to be somewhat repetitive. I would like to add another דיוק. The גמרא says that לעולם ישלים, there is a point here to finish. I understand that one should finish but why is the גמרא need to say that, just say לעולם ילמד and I would assume it means the entire Parsha?

Maybe there is a connection. Abba pointed out that we find this lashon of ימים ושנים throughout the Torah. I believe that a possibility in the "double" lashon, is to stress the importance and use of every moment. Sara imeinu life was…

Gav, I love that you took the time to listen and respond to my chaburah! That's a great question. I thought about for quite a bit over shabbos. I realized that I'm not sure I was clear about that opinion that requires a "4th reading". I was trying to find where I saw that. I have it in my notes, but I didn't write where I got it from. But, I assume that even that opinion requires a READING and that one would need to do that with his mouth not ears. Now generally there is a concept that if one has in mind to fulfill his obligation with the baal koreh (torah reader) he can fulfill his obligation with…

Yonah,

Great presentation. Naturally, I did not understand every word that was spoken, but you did a great job relaying over the main ideas and concepts in an understandable way.

You mentioned that some people say that the real obligation is to say the “parsha reading” four times. According to them, one would read the parsha twice, the unklis once, and listen once (which counts as a reading), equaling four readings. I would infer from the wording you used (“some people…”) that others believe that reading three times would be sufficient to fulfill one’s obligation. Assuming this is an accurate inference, couldn’t people read the parsha twice, listen once, and forgo reading the unklis? Additionally, assuming that reading the unklis…

Abba there aren't enough expressions in existence (or at least in my vocabulary) that would express how honored I am that took time from your busy schedule and listened, thought, and pondered upon my chabura! THANK YOU!! I love your diyuk from parshiosav! That's just beautiful! 1) the only answer I saw to the redundancy (if we can call it that), is it's said for ppl who may only have days left and they can prolong their days and for those who have years can prong their years. I didn't get a chance to look up your mareh mikomos, but there it could be said that way because they actually count there years and days... possibly! 2) I read it in the…
